La Gazzetta dello Sport claim Napoli have had talks with Rafa Benitez, in case of Luciano Spalletti’s departure. The Partenopei ended the campaign lifting their first Serie A title in 33 years, but speculation continues surrounding Spalletti’s future at the club.
Reports emerged earlier this week that the Napoli coach was unhappy with the way his contract extension has been dealt with, prompting a ‘frosty’ relationship with club President Aurelio De Laurentiis.
La Gazzetta report today that Spalletti may yet leave the club this summer as he and De Laurentiis are not on speaking terms following a dinner between the two last week.
The newspaper claims that the Partenopei have began contacts with former coach Rafa Benítez, in case Spalletti chooses not to remain.
La Repubblica report on similar lines, saying Spalletti has refused the offer of a one-year contract extension and may leave the club when the season is over.
