Antonio Conte has hit back at Serie A officials and the Napoli manager believes that he is targeted by the Italian press.

The Napoli boss issued a furious rant towards the Italian media after his side overturned a 2-0 deficit to secure a point against Hellas Verona on January 7th.
After 27-minutes the Partenopei found themselves 2-0 down at home, before Scott McTominay and Giovanni Di Lorenzo made things all square in the second-half.
Failing to secure three-points saw Napoli drift to four-points behind table-topping Inter Milan while Juventus closed the gap on Conte’s side with a win over Sassuolo – thanks to Kenan Yildiz’s triple double performance.
This league position may cause some concern around the Napoli camp and Conte appeared to be on edge during his post-match press conference.
The Italian was questioned over his comments towards Inter, Milan and Juventus, which led to Conte hitting back against the media over his treatment in Serie A.
Conte said: “I didn’t say anything strange. I simply paid compliments to Inter, Milan and Juventus and their history. If I talk about referees, there’s uproar. If others do, nothing happens. I understand I’m a media figure, but this only happens to me in Italy.”
Having this tone in an interview may suggest a slight hint of pressure on Conte’s shoulders as there have been questions over the Italian’s future.
Napoli To Offer Antonio Conte New Deal
Prior to the 2025/26 season, Conte was heavily linked with a move away from Napoli despite winning the Serie A title – but the Italian decided to keep his place in Naples.
There was further questions asked during Napoli’s poor run of form in early November, however Conte received public support from Napoli’s president Aurelio De Laurentiis.
Conte’s deal with the Partenopei does not expire until June 2027, but the Serie A champions are keen on extending the Italian’s deal even further before the end of this season.
The 56-year-old may wait until the end of the campaign and see how Napoli compete in the transfer window as the Partenopei are currently dealing with a major injury crisis in midfield.
Kevin De Bruyne has been sidelined since October and is not expected back for another two-months, which has caused Napoli to consider selling the Belgian this year.
This decision could play a part in Conte’s decision as the Italian played a huge role in bringing De Bruyne to Naples and may be disappointed if the club do not find a suitable replacement.
