The match began with a spectacular free-kick goal from Hakan Calhanoglu, marking his first direct free-kick score for Inter. This set the tone for what would be a dominant performance by the Nerazzurri.
Despite having two goals disallowed for offside early in the game, Inter maintained their pressure. Their persistence paid off when Taremi capitalized on a defensive error by former AC Milan midfielder Rade Krunic, setting up Marko Arnautovic for an easy tap-in to double their lead.
