Dodo Fiorentina in Love Again After Milan Performance Signals a Turnaround
It only took two weeks to forget Dodô’s dip in form in the early months of this new season.
His lack of focus and carelessness in important moments, like the goal they let in in Parma, made people wonder if he could really do the job.
The full-back, who was such a great asset just a short time ago, seems to have lost his spark, but the first few games of 2026, including the match against Milan, are proving otherwise.
Dodô is back on the right wing. The match against Milan was his first really convincing performance of the season. The Brazilian full-back looked confident, willing and proactive.
These are all things that had been missing for months, partly because of his general decline and partly because of his difficult relationship with the club. But things seem to have changed for the better recently.
Fiorentina Reopen Dodo Contract Talks
Dodo’s performance against Milan is probably confirmation of this.
The Viola management has been in touch with his agents to try to extend the former Shakhtar player’s contract, which is set to expire in June 2027.
The plan is to extend it to 2029 with an option for the following year. The player’s agents are pushing for a pretty big pay rise – from €1.5 million to almost €2 million, including bonuses.
We’ll have to wait and see, there’s no way of knowing for sure. Rocco Commisso’s club might be persuaded to sell for around €30 million.
He’s made it pretty clear that Dodo isn’t for sale. Fabio Paratici is a fan of his and will count on him at least until the end of the season, in full agreement with coach Paolo Vanoli.
Dodo knows this and has already made his intentions clear.
Dodo Sends Clear Message on His Future
Dodo’s been in touch with Fiorentina, saying they should be cool.
With all the transfer rumours and news about the contract being slow to renew, the Brazilian full-back posted on his Instagram profile: “It’s a long road ahead, but I’ll always fight for this team.”
