The release clause for Roma forward Paulo Dybala is €12 million for clubs outside Serie A and €20 million for Italian clubs. That’s according to a new report from Sky Sport Italia journalist Gianluca Di Marzio who reports on the fine points of the deal that saw Dybala join Roma on a free transfer from Juventus last summer.

The Argentine’s contract with the club included a release clause that is active from this summer, set at €20 million and €12 million respectively, however Roma could prevent the clause from being triggered by increasing Dybala’s wages.

The Giallorossi have the option of keeping La Joya by improving his salary from €3.8 million to €6 million net per season, however if they fail to increase his wages, he is free to leave. The contract also includes a stipulation that 80% of the release clause fee would go to Roma, whilst the remaining 20% would go directly to the player.

Dybala has been fundamental for Roma so far this season, scoring 11 goals and providing 6 assists in 24 appearances across all competitions.
