Hakan Calhanoglu Set Inter Milan Return Date
Calhanoglu underwent scans on a calf strain sustained late on in the 2-2 draw with Napoli on January 11.
The Turkish international had pulled up with a muscular issue and immediately showed his discomfort after making a tackle inside his own 18-yard box. Early indications suggested that he had avoided a more severe issue.
Tests then revealed he had suffered from a strain, but he will be forced to sit out for the rest of January.
According to Sky Sport, Calhanoglu will be sidelined for Serie A matches against Lecce, Udinese, Pisa, Cremonese and Sassuolo. He will also be absent for Champions League matches against Arsenal and Borussia Dortmund.
Head coach Cristian Chivu is hopeful he will return against Juventus at the San Siro on February 15.
A club statement read: “Hakan Calhanoglu underwent an MRI scan this morning at the Humanitas Clinical Institute in Rozzano. The tests revealed a strain in his left soleus muscle.
“His condition will be evaluated in the coming days.”
Calhanoglu has endured an injury-hit campaign. He picked up a wrist problem in November before returning to the treatment table the following month with an adductor problem, but returned in time for the Supercoppa Italiana.

Hakan Calhanoglu Facing Uncertain Inter Milan Future
As reported by FootItalia, Calhanoglu’s future at Inter is uncertain.
His contract at the club is currently set to run down at the end of the 2026-27 campaign, and he has not reached an agreement over an extension despite holding several rounds of talks.
The former AC Milan and Bayer Leverkusen playmaker was heavily linked with a move away during the summer, having attracted interest from Turkey, but a departure ultimately did not materialise.
Galatasaray are interested in Calhanoglu while Fenerbahce are also keen on signing him, which will force Inter to decide on his contract. According to reports, a compromise over his wages has not been found.
Inter are also cautious over the player’s niggling injuries.
Per Capology, Calhanoglu is currently paid a basic salary of €213,000 per week. This makes him the third-highest earner at the club behind Nicolo Barella and Lautaro Martinez.
He will likely want an increase to stay, but Inter will not be held to ransom.
Negotiations, therefore, have been placed on hold until the end of the season.
