Juventus Icardi transfer rumors shut down by Spalletti

Tough. Sure. Peremptory.

Spalletti put an end to the transfer rumors that had people talking right before and after the match against Parma.

“We’re not interested in Icardi. That’s just gossip from you journalists. We want Kolo Muani.”

This isn’t the first time Mauro Icardi has been linked with Juventus. After leaving Inter for Galatasaray, the Argentine striker was almost set to be the Bianconeri’s new center forward a couple of times, but the talks never went through.

Why Icardi came back into the conversation

The Icardi idea has come up again after the problems with Kolo Muani. This time, because of what happened with En-Nesyri, Juventus didn’t fly to Istanbul, but the striker’s agent went to Turkey and has been talking with Galatasaray since last night to get the Argentine released. There’s some competition from Victor Osimhen, though.

The big issue here is that Galatasaray has given the green light, as they don’t want to make their rivals stronger, especially since they’ll be facing them in the Champions League.

That’s partly why Giorgio Chiellini, Juventus’ director of sports strategy, seemed so cold last night. He said,

 “It’s just a suggestion, nothing more. I’d rule it out.”

Luciano Spalletti was pretty straightforward after the game:

 “I can only say good things about him, but in this case, he’s not the player we’re looking for. We want someone else, and if we don’t find him, we’ll make do with who we have.”

Juventus still wait on Kolo Muani as Plan B stays cold

Anything can happen, including nothing happening at all.

Spalletti would stick with Jonathan David and Lois Openda, while he waited for the injured Dusan Vlahovic. The Serbian is expected back in mid-March, but his contract is expiring.

The Tottenham coach, on the sidelines of the draw with Manchester City, said again that he doesn’t want to lose Kolo Muani:

 “I want to keep Randal.”

That’s a bummer for Juventus. Even though the French striker is eager to return to Turin.

But CEO Damien Comolli and sporting director Marco Ottolini aren’t giving up.

They’re hoping that Kolo Muani’s pressure will shake things up at the last minute, but they’ve activated plan B of plans B: Icardi, coached by Spalletti at Inter and, on paper, an opponent in the Champions League playoffs with Galatasaray.
