According to Sky Sports, Bournemouth’s approach was knocked back, with Inter preferring to keep the wing-back until the end of the season.

Their decision is a surprise U-turn after FootItalia revealed interest in Henrique from a host of clubs this month.

While Inter were reluctant to allow him to leave, they had begun the process of sourcing a replacement.

Their pursuit of Ivan Perisic screeched to a halt last week after PSV Eindhoven refused to sanction his departure, while Joao Cancelo was a potential option before he opted to join Barcelona instead.

Having failed to line up a new signing on the right flank, Inter have opted to keep Henrique. They will instead assess the 24-year-old’s long-term future at the San Siro in the summer.

Besiktas also wanted Henrique, who was open to embracing a new challenge.

The Brazilian, who joined from Marseille last June, was drafted to play second fiddle to Denzel Dumfries. However, he has become a regular starter in his team-mate’s prolonged injury absence.

As it stands, the former Botafogo man will remain in Milan, with a potential Premier League switch put on hold.

Inter Milan Not Happy With Luis Henrique

Despite opting to keep him, Inter are not impressed with Henrique’s performances. Indeed, figures are growing increasingly frustrated with the winger, sources recently told La Gazzetta dello Sport.

The wideman arrived in a €25m move and was expected to replicate his impressive form in France, which saw him score nine goals and register 10 assists under Roberto De Zerbi last campaign.

Instead, he has failed to find his feet, raising questions over his suitability for Inter’s system and style of play.

But head coach Cristian Chivu has continued to defiantly back him publicly, insisting the criticism is ‘not fair’.

“I defend Luis Henrique because it’s right to do so given what he’s done, despite the labels he’s been given,” said Chivu. “Some of our fans are maybe conditioned by what they read or listen to.

“They don’t forgive him for anything, and that’s not fair. Fans can do what they want, but they have to support him because he’s part of this squad of 25 wonderful players. You shouldn’t boo at the first mistake.”

Henrique has made 25 appearances in all competitions this season, chalking up two assists.
