Inter Milan have added another name to their midfielder shortlist, as Cristian Chivu is reportedly keen on signing Atalanta star, Ederson.
Are Inter Milan Keen On Ederson?
Inter Milan’s midfield roster has been a topic of debate during the opening weeks of this summer transfer window, as Christian Chivu looks to make an instant impact on the team.
The Italian side suffered a disappointing campaign in the 2024/25 season, failing to win the league title by one point and being humiliated in the Champions League final.
After this poor run, many changes were expected to occur and one major action was taken just days after the final, as Simone Inzaghi left his post and took over as the manager of Al Hilal in Saudi Arabia.
This has started multiple rumors over arrivals and departures, including the possible exit of Hakan Calhanoglu who has attracted interest from Galatasaray.
The Galatasaray President provided a major update on Calhanoglu’s links to the Turkish side and Inter have now targeted Brazilian midfielder, Ederson as a possible replacement.
Since joining Atalanta in July 2022 for around $25 million, the 25-year-old has made 139 appearances and contributed to 17 goals (13G + 4A), while also winning the Europa League in 2024.
His performances in Italy have alerted multiple clubs around Europe, with Manchester United being heavily linked in the 2024 summer transfer window and again this year.
In June 2027, the Brazilian will be out of contract in Bergamo and there have been no reported conversations over the idea of extending his deal any further.
How Much Will Ederson Cost?
With two years remaining on his current contract in Italy, Atalanta will not be pressured into accepting a less than satisfactory fee for their star midfielder.
The Bergamo-based side recently lost long-term manager, Gian Piero Gasperini, as the veteran coach took the reins of another Serie A side and will be in charge of Roma next season.
Former Southampton boss, Ivan Juric, was appointed as Gasperini’s successor and will be hoping to keep a hold of Ederson this summer – viewing the Brazilian as an important member.
According to reports, Atalanta have set their asking price for Ederson this summer and any interested party will need to submit a bid in the region of $45-50m.
Juventus are also interested in signing the midfielder this summer and after Serie A betting sites priced the Turin-based side as huge outsiders to win the league, they will be looking to strengthen heavily.
