Juventus Set To Compete With Barcelona To Sign Serie A Midfield Talent

Juventus are lining up a move for Parma midfielder Adrian Bernabe – but face competition from Barcelona.

Head coach Luciano Spalletti is keen to reinforce the spine of his side in the January transfer window, and the club are drawing up a shortlist of targets.
According to Tuttosport, discussions over RB Leipzig’s Xaver Schlager are back underway, while there has also been progress in their pursuit of Feyenoord’s Quinten Timber. Both players are likely to be affordable next month.
But there is said to be a consensus in Turin that Parma talent Bernabe would be an ideal signing. He would also cost around €25million, marginally less than the €30m required to prise Davide Frattesi away from Inter Milan.
Under contract until 2027 and capable of making a step up, the 24-year-old is said to be a realistic option.
However, per Tuttojuve, Parma believe Bernabe is too important to sell next month. While he will certainly have a price, it is expected to be substantial, potentially derailing a swoop.
There is also a further complication for Spalletti and Co. Spanish publication Fichajes have claimed that Barcelona are closely monitoring Bernabe, who progressed through their esteemed La Masia academy.
Born in Catalonia, the Spain U23 international spent four years at the Nou Camp before moving on to Manchester City at the age of 17. He did not break into the first team, and was released in 2021.
Shortly after, he joined Parma, then in Serie B, and eventually helped steer them to promotion to the top-flight.

Juventus Exploring Guido Rodriguez Move
Juventus have also identified several fallback options, should they need them.
According to La Gazzetta dello Sport, the club are exploring a swoop for West Ham midfielder Guido Rodriguez.
The 31-year-old’s contract is set to run down at the end of the season, and the Premier League outfit are inclined to cash in on him now to avoid losing him for free in the summer.
The Hammers do hold an optional one-year extension clause, but have no plans to trigger it.
Rodriguez, who joined from Real Betis in 2024, has made just six appearances this season, playing a meagre total of 252 minutes.
Elsewhere, Kenan Yildiz is set for a new Juventus contract and a significant pay rise.
