The USMNT star has been one of the hot topics of Serie A this season as his deal with Juventus is set to expire at the end of the 2025/26 campaign.

Coming into the season, McKennie’s spell with the Bianconeri appeared to be all-but over as he was not a regular member under Igor Tudor.

However, since Luciano Spalletti took the reins in Turin, McKennie has become one of the first names on the team sheet – starting in every league match under the new Juve boss.

Despite this increase in minutes, McKennie’s contract situation is yet to be resolved and rumors started to circulate that the relationship between Juve and the American has broken.

These reports circulated across social media and McKennie’s father responded to a post on X, labeling these rumors as clickbait.

Although there has been official solution to McKennie’s future, the Bianconeri are still in the market for a new midfielder as Juventus battle Chelsea for Sandro Tonali.

However, McKennie has been utilized in a wider position under Spalletti and the Bianconeri are ready to offer the USMNT star a new deal if he is willing to commit to this position.

McKennie arrived in Turin as a central midfielder and has become a crucial player for the United States in this position – but his future in Italy may not be in the heart of midfield.

Nine of McKennie’s appearances this season have come on the right-hand side and his last appearance in the center of midfield came during Juventus’ only defeat under Spalletti against Napoli on December 7th.

Juve have found success under their new manager, as Spalletti has guided the Bianconeri to six wins, three draws and one defeat in Serie A – moving up to fourth in the table.

This strong run of form is set to be rewarded by some big decisions in the January window, as Federico Chiesa has said yes to a move back to Turin.

Juventus may be focusing on some reinforcements in the opening stages of 2026, but there is still the matter of resolving contract issues with current players.

McKennie is reportedly open to a new deal in Turin but the American has also expressed a desire to play in MLS before his career comes to an end.
