Roberto Mancini look set to remain with Azzurri, despite their failure to qualify for the 2022 World Cup in Qatar. A 1-0 shock home defeat to North Macedonia put paid to their chances of qualification, leading to calls for Mancini to step down.

La Gazzetta dello Sport report that Mancini is now likely to remain in charge, given that he signed a contract extension until 2026 shortly before Italy won the European Championships last year.

Both Gazzetta and Il Corriere dello Sport rate Mancio’s chances of staying very high, barring any shock last minute decisions.

Gazzetta go one step further and offer a ‘new-look’ XI that will revolve around a younger looking squad: Donnarumma; Di Lorenzo, Bonucci, Bastoni, Spinazzola; Barella, Tonali, Verratti; Berardi, Scamacca, Chiesa
