Mike Maignan Set To Extend AC Milan Contract: How Much He Will Earn

Mike Maignan has reportedly agreed to extend his AC Milan contract, bringing an end to months of speculation.

The goalkeeper’s departure from the San Siro looked like a foregone conclusion back in December.

However, discussions got back on track in January, with Maignan subsequently becoming open to a new deal.

A  ‘long, intense, consistent and convincing’ sales pitch from Massimiliano Allegri and Igli Tare then turned the Frenchman’s head.

And now, Italian transfer expert Nicolo Schira has provided the update that Milan fans will have been waiting for.

Mike Maignan contract: How it compares to other AC Milan stars

Mike Maignan will extend his contract with AC Milan until the end of the 2030/31 season, according to Nicolo Schira.

The Italian also wrote on X that Maignan will receive an increase in salary to a staggering €7m per season.

Maignan’s new salary, if Schira’s figures are accurate, would see him move into the top five of Milan’s highest-paid players.

Only Christopher Nkunku, Adrien Rabiot, Luka Modric and Rafael Leao will earn a higher salary when considering basic wages and bonuses.

And with Nkunku’s future still uncertain, Maignan could potentially edge into the top four if the striker moves on in January.

Massimiliano Allegri works his magic once again

AC Milan head coach Massimiliano Allegri reportedly intervened personally, urging Maignan to recommit to the project.

Allegri rarely gets directly involved in transfer business, and usually only for specific targets.

He did so for Adrien Rabiot last summer, before now working his magic again for Maignan.

The Rossoneri manager’s high regard for Maignan appears to be feeding into the goalkeeper’s recent performances.

Indeed, Milan’s last post on X at the time of writing was about Maignan winning the club’s Player of the Month award.

Could the Rossoneri be dropping a hint ahead of a second Maignan post in quick succession, perhaps an official announcement of some sort?

That would certainly make Milan fans even more excited.
