Reports from France suggest that Napoli are closing in on a deal for Morocco international midfielder Azzedine Ounahi. The 22-year-old was one of the most impressive players during the recent World Cup in Qatar, attracting attention from across Europe as he helped lead his team to a fourth place finish at the tournament.
Premier League clubs Leicester City and Newcastle are reportedly following the player closely while Inter, Barcelona and Olympique Marseille have also been linked with the player.
French news site RMC now report that the Partenopei have emerged as favourites to sign the youngster as they are prepared to sign Ounahi outright, but then leave him on loan at Angers until the end of the season.
They’re also expected to use a similar tactic to sign Udinese midfielder Lazar Samardzic in January, allowing the German youngster to remain with the Friulani until June 2023.
