Parma have completed a significant transfer coup by securing the services of Giovanni Leoni from Sampdoria. The 17-year-old defender, widely regarded as one of Italy’s most promising young talents, is set to join the Serie A club in a deal worth up to €8.5 million.
Gianluca Di Marzio reports that the agreement between the two clubs has been reached, with Parma paying an initial fee of €5 million, plus potential bonuses of up to €3.5 million. Leoni, who only joined Sampdoria in the winter transfer window from Padova, made an immediate impact in Serie B, featuring in 12 matches and even scoring a goal during his brief stint with the Blucerchiati.
Leoni’s rapid ascent through the ranks has caught the attention of several top clubs, but it’s Parma who have won the race for his signature. The young defender is scheduled to undergo his medical examinations on Tuesday, before signing a three-year contract with his new club.
