Bologna, Fiorentina And Lazio Join The Race For Patrick Wimmer

Patrick Wimmer is at the center of a three-way tussle involving Serie A sides Bologna, Fiorentina and Lazio. 

The Wolfsburg winger is widely regarded as one of the finest Bundesliga talents and a potential switch to Italy is gathering momentum.

Interest has also extended to England’s Premier League, too. Everton and Fulham have already made enquirers about Wimmer’s availability.

Patrick Wimmer Transfer News Reveals Serie A Interest

After the matchday 21 defeat to Fiorentina on January 18, Vincenzo Italiano’s Bologna future came under the microscope.

However, the Rossoblu boss is hoping to add Patrick Wimmer to his roster to help get the Coppa Italia holders back on track.

Italiano’s charges have just one win to their name in 2026 and new arrivals are being prioritized. Wimmer has been sounded out but competition is expected to be fierce.

The Austrian international is a tempting option for La Viola’s Fabio Paratici. Although he doesn’t officially start his role at the Artemio Franchi until February, Wimmer is high on Paratici’s shortlist.

Victory at the Renato Dall’Ara meant Paolo Vanoli’s side moved out of the relegation zone. New additions have already been added but Wimmer’s flair and creativity is something that Vanoli desires.

Lazio’s interest centers around Matteo Cancellieri. If the one-cap Italy international quits the Stadio Olimpico this month, the Biancocelesti’s pursuit is set to ramp up.

How Much Will Patrick Wimmer Cost?

According to transfer news expert Ekrem Konur, Wolfsburg are demanding €15million for their star winger. That figure falls well within the budgets of all three Serie A clubs.

The same also applies to Everton and Fulham. Ideally, Die Wolfe doesn’t want to lose Wimmer mid-season but the exciting talent is understood to be seeking a new challenge.

Having admitted in February 2025 that Bayern Munich would be a “dream scenario,” the 24-year-old also confirmed he would be “open to anything” as long as he could join the right team.

Wimmer’s dynamic and attacking style has certainly drawn number a list of keen admirers. All of who are looking to add a pacey, energetic and creative winger to their ranks.

The Bundesliga side’s only request is that a loan deal won’t be negotiated. Head coach Daniel Bauer wants a straight cash deal so he can replace Wimmer as soon as possible.

So far this season, Wimmer has three goals and three assists to his name in all competitions. His contract expires in 2027 so the German side are happy to sell now instead of potentially losing the Austrian on a free next year.
