Juventus midfielder Adrien Rabiot believes every team needs leaders on and off the pitch, and he is that kind of player. The Bianconeri have struggled in recent weeks, their latest defeat coming at the hands of Milan last weekend in an uninspiring 2-0 loss, with much of the team coming under criticism for their attitude and approach.
Speaking ahead of Juve’s Champions League match against Maccabi Haifi, Rabiot explained the importance of leadership in the team and addressed the transfer rumours linking him with a move away next summer:
There was a lot of talk, but I was always focused in training and in the game. That’s why I’m doing well, I worked well even during the injury. I’m trying to drag this team up front.
Me as a leader? Yes of course, all teams need leaders and players who can speak off the pitch and pull the team on the pitch. I am one of those, I try to give 100 percent and show an example to others and younger players. We need everyone.
We are talking, not everything goes well even when we win. We must isolate the problems on the pitch. We are a nice group and we are working well in training, so we must do the same during games.
“I feel important for the team, everyone has a specific role. Right now, I feel physically well and I want to help my teammates.”
