Gian Piero Gasperini has made a strong start to his spell as Roma manager, as the Giallorossi look to push the likes of Napoli, Juventus and Inter for the Scudetto.

The Italian side took a step away from league action in their most recent encounter and secured a 2-1 away win over Nice in the Europa League thanks to goals from Evan Ndicka and Gianluca Mancini.

Relying on goals from the center back duo is a sign of Roma’s struggles in front of goal, which has seen the Giallorossi score just three goals in four league matches.

Evan Ferguson is yet to score his first competitive goal for the Serie A side, while Artem Dovbyk has featured from the bench and the Ukrainian has recently been linked with a move to the Premier League.

Despite this, Gasperini’s side have won three of their opening four Serie A fixtures, earning all-three points against Bologna, Pisa and fierce rivals Lazio.

Each of these victories came through a 1-0 scoreline and Roma’s only defeat followed a similar trend, suffering a 1-0 loss at home Torino on September 14th.

Roma fans will be fairly pleased with their sides’ performances in Serie A so far, which is a stark contrast to supporters of the Giallorossi’s upcoming opponents – Hellas Verona.

Paolo Zanetti’s men were dumped out of Coppa Italia in their most recent outing, suffering a penalty shootout defeat to Venezia at home and continued a poor start to the season.

Verona have accumulated three-points from their opening four league matches and are still on the hunt for their first Serie A victory after losing 4-0 to Lazio and playing out stalemates with Udinese, Cremonese and Juventus.

Finding the back of the net has been a growing concern for Verona so far, after scoring just two goals in the opening four matches and one came from the penalty-spot against Juve.

Both sides come into the clash with multiple absentees, as Roma will not be able to call upon Leon Bailey and Paulo Dybala once again with the latter expected to return after the international break.

So far, Serdar has picked up two yellow cards in five appearances across all competitions, adding to the 12 he accumulated during his first two seasons in Italy.
