Santiago Gimenez will not be leaving AC Milan in the January transfer window according to the player’s representative.

Gimenez’s agent Rafaela Pimenta strongly played down the speculation surrounding the Mexican international’s long-term future in Milan.

A host of clubs have been linked with Gimenez as the striker continues for regular game-time at the San Siro. Now, it appears the 24-year-old will be given more time to impress.

Rafaela Pimenta Plays Down Santiago Gimenez Exit Talks

Last week, AC Milan reportedly declared their asking price for Santiago Gimenez. Potential suitors were quoted €32million but it’s extremely unlikely Gimenez will quit.

“If the Premier League wants him, I’m not surprised they want him. It seems normal to me that one, two, or three clubs are interested, but the idea of him leaving Milan doesn’t exist,” Rafaela Pimenta told ESPN.

“Santi arrived at Milan in January, and he arrived at a Milan that were not at the top of the table, not to mention struggling. All the actions, messages, and words I’ve received from Milan have always been positive.

“There wasn’t a single moment when Milan told me something wasn’t right. Every time the press talks too much, I call Milan, and Milan always respond: ‘No, we’re calm, everything’s fine, thank you’.”

Santiago Gimenez Transfer News

Rafaela Pimenta’s words will come as a blow to many teams. As she mentioned, a number of clubs in England’s top-flight were all interested in her client.

The player himself shut down AC Milan exit rumors last summer amid strong speculation. Nonetheless, that didn’t deter the likes of Brentford, Sunderland and West Ham all testing Milan’s resolve.

Their interest was gathering traction but even Fabrizio Romano has played down the possibility of Gimenez joining the high-flying Black Cats.

Regis Le Bris side has other targets they are pursuing. Whether that applied to the Bees and the Hammers remains to be seen but if they weren’t, they will need to now as Gimenez is seemingly staying put.

Closer to home, Roma’s pursuit of Mathys Tel has seen their interest cool in a number of targets. One of which was Gimenez but it was unlikely the Rossoneri would sell him to a Serie A rival.

What Players Could Leave AC Milan In January?

As it stands, AC Milan doesn’t appear that they will lose any of the top stars in January. As history dictates, it’s rare that first-team regulars move on mid-season.

That is of course unless vast and substantial offers are received. Even then, it leaves very little time to find suitable replacements as opposed to the summer transfer window.

A new Mike Maignan Milan contract will likely be the main priority over the winter. The French goalkeeper is failing to commit so there is a slim chance he may leave next month instead of June 2026 – when his current deal expires.

That is only so the Rossoneri could cash in but it would be extremely difficult to find a stopper as experienced and invaluable as the 30-year-old.

Although doubts surround Maignan’s future, Santiago Gimenez looks set to stay at the San Siro for at least another six months whereby he’ll be aiming to help the Diavolo to the Scudetto.
