After weeks of talks around a change in ownership at Fiorentina, Rocco Commisso has decided to settle the discussions as the Italian reiterates his devotion to La Viola.

The 76-year-old has been unable to attend matches this season due to health concerns, but has still been involved in the overarching issues at the club.

Fiorentina have endured a difficult campaign so far, sitting bottom of Serie A without a single victory after 14 matches and parted ways with Stefano Pioli in early November.

Paolo Vanoli has been tasked with the responsibility of guiding La Viola up the rankings and dealing with several transfer sagas in January.

Italian international Moise Kean has been linked with a move to Barcelona, despite scoring just two league goals this season and La Viola are already shortlisting multiple replacements.

This uncertainty has been echoed by talks over a takeover at Fiorentina, as Saudi Arabian investors have identified La Viola as a potential project.

However, Commisso has shut down any talks over selling the club in 2026 and believes Fiorentina will work through these dark moments.

Commisso said: “All companies go through difficult periods. But the foresight of those who lead them lies in learning from dark moments so we can come out stronger.

“I have never given up in any of my businesses, and I certainly won’t start now. We’re in a difficult situation and we have to get out of it in any way.

“We cannot allow Fiorentina to go down. Everyone must feel responsible, the club, the players, everyone who works around the team.”

La Viola To Prioritize Europa Conference League

Fiorentina’s performances in Serie A have been disastrous, however, La Viola have found some relief through the Europa Conference League.

The Italian side currently sit 11th in the UECL table after picking up nine points from five matches (3W & 2L) and are just a point away from automatic qualification into the knockout stages.

Most recently, Vanoli’s side secured a 2-1 victory over Dinamo Kyiv thanks to goals from Kean and Albert Gudmundsson – ending a run of nine matches without a win (all competitions).

Performing in Europe could be key for Fiorentina’s ambitions in the January window, as La Viola target Joshua Sargent and Vanoli is set to prioritize the European competition.

This does not mean that the Florence-based side will disregard their league campaign, as Vanoli’s position is reliant on keeping the club in Italy’s top-flight.

Fiorentina’s final run before 2026 will bring some more favorable match-ups, as La Viola face Hellas Verona, Udinese and Parma, alongside a UECL clash against Lausanne.
