Fiorentina Interested In Greek Star Who Has Been Told To Find A New Club

The latest Serie A transfer news has revealed that Fiorentina are interested in signing Liverpool left-back Kostas Tsimikas. 

After spending five years on Merseyside, Tsimikas has been told he is free to find a new club this summer. The Greek international was signed by former Reds boss Jurgen Klopp from Olympiacos for €13.6million.

Tsimikas was the understudy to Andy Robertson and mainly featured in cup competitions. Now, the Premier League champions have signed Milos Kerkez and will likely keep Robertson, Tsimikas can leave asap.

FootItalia have been told that Fiorentina are weighing up a bid for Kostas Tsimikas. The Viola have already signed nine players this summer to the tune of €59million.

Stefano Pioli is keen to add more reinforcements as he wants to challenge domestically as well in Europe again this season. He believes Tsimikas’ experience would bode well with his roster.

Meanwhile, the Florence-based club are still keen on signing Manchester City midfielder Kalvin Phillips. Although the England midfielder remains at the Etihad, Pioli would still like to sign him alongside Tsimikas.

Both players would provide healthy competition for places that Pioli desires. However, Simon Sohm and Robin Gosens have also been signed this summer and want to establish themselves as first team regulars.

Would Kostas Tsimikas Be A Regular Starter At Fiorentina?

As it stands, Fiorentina have three left-backs at the Stadio Artemio Franchi. Robin Gosens is the current first choice who has made his loan switch from Union Berlin permanent.

He featured 41 times in 2024-25 and chipped in with an impressive eight goals. New head coach Stefano Pioli looks set to use wing-backs in his formation this year so Kostas Tsimikas would need to earn his spot.

Pioli also has Fabiano Parisi and Niccolo Fortini at his disposal. Although, the latter is still only 19 and may be shipped out on loan again. Naturally, that would trim the competition from Tsimikas’ persective.

Parisi – like Gosens – featured 41 times in all competitions last season. Therefore, rotation was clearly evident under former head coach Raffaele Palladino.

However, Pioli isn’t expected to chop and change so much and owing to Tsimikas experience in the Champions League as well as the Premier League, it’ll likely be a straight fight with Gosens to become first choice.

The general feeling in England is that Kostas Tsimikas deserves to be a regular starter. He is expected to leave the Premier League and try his luck on the continent.

A potential move to Fiorentina certainly bodes well. The Viola have finished runners-up in the Confrence League on two occasions and often challenge for a UCL spot.

Therefore, someone with Tsimikas’ winning mentality could help the Florence-based side to their first major trophy since 2001.
