Roma and Juventus Among Serie A Sides Preparing Summer Move For FIFA Club World Cup Standout

Start

Roma and Juventus are reportedly interested in signing Flamengo defender, Wesley, as the Brazilian continues to impress at the Club World Cup.

Who Is Wesley?

Another star name from Brazil has caught the eye this summer, as Flamengo defender Wesley is currently being linked with multiple clubs around Europe.

The 21-year-old made his professional debut for Flamengo in December 2021, at 18-years-old and has gone on to become a regular member in the Brazilian side’s back-line.

During these four-years, Wesley has made 132 appearances for Flamengo, winning the Copa Libertadores (2022), Copa do Brasil (2022 & 2024), Supercopa do Brasil (2025) and Campeonato Carioca (2024 & 2025).

Wesley has been deployed as a right-back for the majority of his time in Brazil, but has been used as a wide midfielder on multiple occasions due to his pace and relentless overlapping runs.

Multiple sources have claimed that the Brazilian is being monitored by Premier League, Serie A and Russian sides this summer – especially after his performance in the Club World Cup so far.

Flamengo are huge outsiders to win the competition on the best betting apps, but are in a great position to qualify for the next round after picking up six points from two matches.

Are Roma and Juventus Interested In Wesley?

After an impressive spell in the Club World Cup, playing a pivotal role in Flamengo’s 3-1 win over Chelsea, the 21-year-old has reportedly caught the attention of two Serie A sides.

One of these Italian teams resides in Turin, as Juventus are looking to bolster their squad under Igor Tudor, who took the reins on a permanent basis after guiding Juve to Champions League football towards the end of last season.

Juventus are also looking to add another name that was at the club on a temporary basis, but face compeition from Chelsea and Spurs for Randal Kolo Muani’s signature.

The other Serie A side that are looking into a move for the Flamengo star is Roma, who also appointed a new manager in recent weeks – hiring Gian Piero Gasperini.

Many were shocked by Gasperini’s decision to leave Atalanta and the veteran coach also declined the opportunity to take the reins at Juventus as he preferred a move to Rome.

Roman finished 6th in the league last season and will be pushing for Champions League football in the 2025/26 campaign, which is why they could make a move for Wesley this summer.

The Flamengo star revealed that he is aware of the interest from both Roma and Juventus, claiming it his ‘dream’ to play in Europe at some stage of his career.

Wesley said: “My dream is to play in Europe at least once in my career. Now I’m happy in Brazil and I’m focused on the Club World Cup: we want to do well and go as far as possible.”

“Jorginho, Danilo and Alex Sandro spoke to me a lot about Italy and told me that moving there would be a very important step in my growth.”

“I know about the interest of Roma and Juve but it’s not yet the time to think about the future.”

The 21-year-old has three-years remaining on his current deal in Brazil and Flamengo are not looking to sell their star defender, but would consider any bids at around $30 million.
