In a sigh of relief for Torino fans, the club has officially confirmed that defender Alessandro Buongiorno will not require surgery for the shoulder injury sustained during the recent Serie A victory against Cagliari. Initial concerns suggested a potential three-month absence, but specialist consultations have led to a more optimistic prognosis.

Buongiorno dislocated his shoulder and suffered ligament damage in the dying moments of Friday’s triumph over Cagliari, causing apprehension among the medical staff. The fear of a prolonged recovery period arose, with the possibility of surgery looming on the horizon.

However, in a recent statement, Torino have assured fans that after consulting with Professor Giovanni Di Giacomo in Rome, it has been decided that surgery will not be necessary for Buongiorno. Instead, the 24-year-old defender will undergo conservative treatment over the coming weeks, with a subsequent evaluation to determine the extent of improvement.

While the news of avoiding surgery is undoubtedly positive, Torino will still face a setback as Buongiorno is expected to be sidelined for approximately one month. The absence of the star center-back poses a challenge for the Granata, who will need to navigate their upcoming fixtures without one of their key defensive assets.

Buongiorno’s recent emergence in the Italy squad, earning two senior caps, underlines his growing importance on the football stage. The 24-year-old’s potential three-month absence would have been a significant blow for both Torino and the player’s promising career.

Notably, the injury occurred at a time when the young defender had been linked with a potential move to Milan during the January transfer window. Despite the speculations, Torino emphatically refused to entertain any thoughts of selling their prized defender.
