Start

Empoli have officially welcomed back Mbaye Niang to Italy, announcing the completion of the Senegalese-French striker’s signing. A statement on the clubs official website confirmed the news:

Empoli Football Club announces that they have reached an agreement with Adana Demirspor Kulübü for the definitive acquisition of the registration rights of the player M’Baye Niang. The player has signed a contract until 30 June 2024 with an option to renew under certain conditions.

M’Baye Niang is a striker of Senegalese and French nationality born in Meulan on 19 December 1994. Raised in the youth sectors of Basse-Seine Les Mureaux and Poissy, it was with Caen that he made his 16-year old debut in Ligue 1, collecting 30 appearances. In 2012 he signed with AC Milan. On the second day of the season M’Baye made his Serie A debut in the Rossoneri’s victory over Bologna. The same season also saw his first time in the Champions League, in the first leg of the round of 16 final against Barcelona. Halfway through the following season Niang moved to Montpellier, finishing the season with four goals in 19 matches. M’Baye returned to AC Milan before moving to Genoa in January 2015, where he scored 5 goals and made 3 assists in 14 appearances. Back at AC Milan, Niang scored his first goals in a Rossoneri shirt in Serie A in the 4-1 win over Sampdoria: a total of 8 goals between the league and Coppa Italia. The 2016-17 season opened with the Italian Super Cup win in the final against Juventus, after which Niang went on loan to Watford in the Premier League in January. In the following summer market session M’Baye signs with Torino, where he stays for a year, before moving the following summer to Rennes. His return season in Ligue 1 ended with 44 appearances, 14 goals, 7 assists and, most notably, the French Cup final victory over Psg. Niang continued at Rennes until February 2021 when a loan move to Al-Ahli in the Saudi Pro League took place. At the end of the championship, M’Baye returned to France to Auxerre before joining Adana Demirspor in Turkey’s top league last summer. With the Senegalese national team, M’Baye Niang participated in the 2018 World Cup and the 2019 African Cup of Nations.
