Marco Palestra On Juventus’ Radar As Luciano Spalletti Plots January Bid

Marco Palestra is high on Juventus’ wish-list as the Bianconeri aim to boost their defensive options for the second-half of the campaign. 

Juve has endured a topsy-turvy season so far and finds themselves in 7th position. With 14 matchdays already completed, the Old Lady is eight points off the summit.

That has accelerated Luciano Spalletti’s transfer plans going into January. The recently-appointed head coach is a keen admirer of Palestra and views the right-back as an ideal addition to his side.

Although Juventus have targeted Sandro Tonali, it’s another Azzurri star the Bianconeri have prioritized when the transfer window opens in three weeks.

Atalanta’s Marco Palestra – who is enjoying a stunning loan spell at Cagliari – has caught the attention of the Serie A giants. So much so that a mid-season bid is becoming increasingly likely.

Palestra has dazzled for the Sardinians so far in 2025-26. The 20-year-old has earned rave reviews for his mature and consistent performances.

La Dea are very much aware of Juve’s interest and find themselves in a healthy position. Head coach Raffaele Palladino can either rebuff the Old Lady’s offer and integrate him into the first team next season.

If it’s deemed a necessity to raise finances, the 2024 Europa League winners can already demand a sizable sum. Palestra is one of the hottest talents on the continent and won’t come cheap.

Despite his young age, Palestra’s defensive and attacking attributes have already propelled the youth prospect into a potential world class superstar.

According to TransferMarkt, Marco Palestra is valued at €8.5million. However, Atalanta knows his true worth and won’t entertain bids for less than €35m.

The Italy Under 21 international has played 13 Serie A games this season and already provided three assists. Many are comparing the youngster to Achraf Hakimi and insist he is revolutionizing the wing-back role.

Real Madrid legend Sergio Ramos had also been discussed but a deal for Palestra is more beneficial in the long-run. All that remains is for Juventus to clear the deadwood and prepare a package that meets La Dea’s demands.

It’s understood that Roma are also keeping a close eye on developments. Gian Piero Gasperini – who managed Palestra during his time in Bergamo – is keen to bring his former player to the capital.

The Giallorossi did sign Wesley Franca in the summer who plays in the same position. Therefore, Juve currently lead the way and a bid next month is imminent.

Juventus Transfer Targets

Juventus are tracking Leon Goretzka as well but it’s unlikely a deal will be manufactured next month. The Bayern Munich star is out of contract in June so a summer transfer is more feasible.

Closer to home, Lecce defender Tiago Gabriel is a potential player who could move to Turin in January. The 20-year-old would command a fee in the region of €20-25m.
