Alessandro Bastoni Plays Down Inter Milan Exit Talks As Barcelona Plot Summer Bid

Alessandro Bastoni has denied he is set to leave Inter Milan and claims he is “happy” at the San Siro amid interest from Barcelona. 

The Spanish giants are prioritizing a new center-back and view the Inter ace as their No.1 candidate. Hansi Flick’s side have been long-term admirers of Bastoni and are plotting a sizable summer bid.

However, the Azzurri international has no intention of leaving Inter. In fact, the Nerazzurri are set to offer the 26-year-old a new deal in the coming months.

Alessandro Bastoni Transfer News Reveals Barcelona Interest

Having been rumored with a move to Barcelona, Alessandro Bastoni has played down the reports he is seeking an exit from Inter Milan. Bastoni confessed he was “proud” to be linked to Barca but there is “nothing” in the talks.

“It makes me proud to see links, it means I’m doing well – but there’s zero, nothing”. I’m happy here at Inter and I have zero issues or problems here. I don’t even focus on the news.”

The response will provide a breath of fresh air to supporters who were concerned Bastoni may jump ship. Especially as star full-back Denzel Dumfries swapped agents which sparked concerns he may leave the club.

Although Bastoni has seemingly committed his future to the Serie A giants, that won’t deter the Spanish champions from placing a summer offer.

The 26-year-old star is valued at €80million and has two-and-half years on his current deal. That in itself places Inter in a strong position if negotiations were to commence with the Blaugrana.

Alessandro Bastoni Contract Update

Although Inter Milan will still be weary of a record-breaking bid from Barcelona for Alessandro Bastoni, head coach Cristian Chivu remains confident that his star center-back will sign a contract extension.

With Inter targeting Marc Guehi, the Romanian boss wants to pair Bastoni and the England defender together to make a formidable partnership.

If Chivu can convince Guehi to trade Selhurst Park for the San Siro, that would go along way in helping Bastoni his long-term future remains with the Nerazzurri.

In fact, Chivu and Bastoni already have a really strong relationship so it makes negotiations about extending much easier. Even at this early stage, supporters can be quietly confident that the 26-year-old will pen new terms.

The Italy star currently pockets a basic salary of €195,962 but he can expect to bank around €250,000. That would make him the second-highest earner behind Lautaro Martinez.

Inter Milan Transfer Targets

Coming into one of the busiest periods of the season, Inter Milan will be looking to add a number of new players to their roster going into the second-half of 2025-26.

With the January window just weeks away, defense appears to be Cristian Chivu’s priority. Especially as Denzel Dumfries underwent ankle surgery to correct a long-standing issue that originated against Lazio in early November.

Highly-rated full-backs Marco Palestra and Brooke Norton-Cuffy have been identified to replace Dumfries. So has Fiorentina’s wantaway right-back Dodo.

In the center, Alessandro Bastoni has played mainly alongside Manuel Akanji and Francesco Acerbi. As well as the trio have performed, the latter will miss the next 3-4 weeks with a hamstring injury.

That has seen the likes of Federico Nardin and Lorenzo Tosto linked with a San Siro switch. Branimir Mlacic, Moris Valincic, Tiago Gabriel and Ibrahima Konate have also been shortlisted.

However, Chivu will likely put all his focus on obtaining Marc Guehi. To pair the Crystal Palace star alongside Bastoni can go along way in achieving the Scudetto.
