Cremonese striker Jamie Vardy gave his side a fright after he collided with a goalpost in Monday’s Serie A game with Verona.
The 39-year-old Englishman has begun life brightly at Cremonese, bagging five goals and one assist in his first 16 games.
Vardy is one of the first names on Davide Nicola’s teamsheet and, unsurprisingly, he started against Verona on Monday evening.
However, in the 14th minute of the game, the English Premier League legend had an unfortunate incident with the goalpost.

Tommaso Barbieri swung a ball into the box for Vardy, but the striker arrived a fraction too late to make contact.
Worse followed. Vardy’s momentum carried him into the post, and his shin made a sharp, sickening thud against the woodwork.
He immediately went down in pain, forcing a brief stoppage as Cremonese’s medical staff came on to treat him.

The game restarted with Cremonese briefly down to ten men as Vardy was being treated, but he duly returned to the pitch in the 17th minute.
‘Vardy tries to come back,’ wrote the outlet. ‘In his attempt to get the ball, he hits the post with his shin and knee.
‘The Englishman is still trying to test himself. Also because Nicola has few attacking options from the bench.’
Luckily, Vardy was able to continue for the rest of the first half before coming out for the second period.
The game went on to finish goalless, with Cremonese now 12th in the table.
What the future holds for Jamie Vardy
Everyone at Cremonese will want Vardy to stay at the club for as long as possible following his great start to life there.
Vardy was November’s MVP in Serie A, having won the Player of the Month award. This shows what an impact he has had in Cremona.
His contract only runs until the end of the season, but there is a renewal option ‘upon the fulfilment of certain conditions.’
According to BBC Sport, a further year is on offer for Vardy should Cremonese avoid relegation.
However, the Cremonese and Vardy love story could continue further amid reports a new contract could be in the pipeline.
