Alessio Romagnoli Makes Final Push To Leave Lazio As Italian Refuses To Train
Tensions between Lazio and Alessio Romagnoli have risen after the Italian's unauthorized absence from training.

Alessio Romagnoli has continued his push to leave Lazio as the Italian refuses to take part in the club’s training sessions.
Alessio Romagnoli Absent From Lazio Training
The Italian defender did not attend Lazio’s training session on January 28th, as Romagnoli’s relationship with the Serie A side continues to dwindle.
Romagnoli appeared to be heading to Qatar after agreeing an €18m-a-year deal with Al-Sadd, but the move went on to be blocked by Lazio just a day later.
Lazio released an official statement over the Italian’s future, revealing that Romagnoli has never been for sale despite numerous reports.
The statement read: “S.S. Lazio confirms that Alessio Romagnoli has never been placed on the market and announces that the player will remain with the Club.
“Despite various enquiries received in recent weeks, the Club’s intention remains firm: to retain a player regarded as a central figure in the sporting project, both technically and personally, and for his leadership within the squad.”
Maurizio Sarri has been very vocal over his desire to keep Romagnoli for the rest of this season, especially after losing Taty Castellanos and Matteo Guendouzi.
The Laziali are looking to bring in some more reinforcements this month, as Lazio target Kasper Hogh and MLS star Obed Vargas.
Sarri has been unable to provide a reason for Romagnoli’s absence, but it is believed to be caused by Lazio’s decision to block the Italian’s move away.
The Azzurri star is out of contract in June 2027 and there has been no progress over an extended contract, meaning Romagnoli is still hopeful over a move to Qatar.
Romagnoli Hopeful Over Qatar Move
Romagnoli has been a vital player for Lazio this season, making 20 appearances in Serie A and featuring in the starting lineup on each occasion.
The 31-year-old waved goodbye to Lazio supporters during the club’s away stalemate with Lecce on January 24th, meaning he is still expecting a move away this month.
Seeing Romagnoli wave goodbye clearly made a major impact on Lazio supporters as they were involved in a conflict with Napoli fans on January 25th and both sets of fans have been banned from away matches until June.
Romagnoli is still hopeful over completing a move to Al-Sadd this month and reuniting with Roberto Mancini in Qatar, as the Italian would increase his salary by almost €13m.
The Qatar-based side are preparing another move for Romagnoli, but Lotito will not approve the deal if Sarri does not give his blessing towards the deal.
Lazio are expected to be without Romagnoli for their next Serie A clash and will take action if the Italian continues to miss training.
