Lazio are preparing a late January bid for Bodo/Glimt striker Kasper Hogh as the Danish star prioritizes a move to Serie A.
Kasper Hogh Set For Serie A Move
Kasper Hogh has been linked with a move away from Norway during the January transfer window, after an impressive run with Bodo/Glimt.
The 25-year-old contributed to 23 league goals in 28 appearances last season (17G + 6A), while also ending the Europa League campaign as the competition’s top scorer.
Despite the Norwegian League season coming to an end in November, Hogh has managed to maintain his form and was on target during Bodo/Glimt’s huge Champions League victory over Atletico Madrid on January 28th.
The Norwegian side sneaked into a UCL Ro16 playoff spot with a 23rd place finish and will face a monstrous task as Bodo/Glimt will face Real Madrid or Inter Milan.
Inter could also be drawn against Benfica as the three remaining Italian teams find out who they will face, but this is not an issue for Lazio.
Maurizio Sarri’s side failed to qualify for Europe last season and are at risk of missing out once again, as the Laziali sit ninth in Serie A and have picked up one win from their last seven league matches.
The Lazio manager has been linked with a move away from Rome after a poor season and Sarri has been very vocal over his frustrations towards the club’s hierarchy.
Lazio sold two of their star men in the opening stages of January in Taty Castellanos and Matteo Guendouzi, which left Sarri in an ever weaker position.
The Laziali have failed to score in their last two Serie A encounters, which has caused Sarri to consider a striker before the window comes to a close.
Hogh has been linked with an €8million move to Norwich City and Celtic, but the Danish star is said to prefer a move to Lazio – meaning the Serie A side could submit a late bid.
Lazio Unimpressed By January Signing
Lazio have already brought in a striker during the January transfer window, as Petar Ratkov joined the club for €13m after a strong run with RB Salzburg.
The 22-year-old has made three appearances for Lazio so far and is yet to score his first goal for the club, as Ratkov continues to leave his new manager unimpressed.
Sarri admitted that he was not overly familiar with the Serbian international and highlighted the issues between himself and Claudio Lotito over Lazio’s transfer policy.
The Serie A side are hoping to end their struggles in January with more reinforcements, as Lazio prepare a late move for Abedo Vargas.
However, the issues in front of goal are still the biggest problem and Ratkov’s addition is yet to bring any sort of resolution, meaning the Serbian could face some competition this month.
