Serie A winter transfer window ends without fireworks and Mateta’s burst

It was a pretty chill session, nothing too surprising or dramatic. The big Serie A clubs didn’t really meet expectations.

Jean-Philippe Mateta was the star of the show. There was some talk about the Frenchman joining Juventus at the start of January, but Milan ended up being his top choice.

The deal was pretty much done, since everyone involved had agreed on the financial terms. But Mateta’s knee messed up the physical tests the Rossoneri’s technical staff set, and he’ll need surgery.

As for the striker position, it was also a washout for Juventus.

The Bianconeri bought former Sassuolo player Boga and swapped Joao Mario for Holm with Bologna.

But after leaving the Mateta trail, Juventus turned right back to Kolo Muani. A love never forgotten.

Tottenham wasn’t looking to lose him, at least not for the time being. It seems like the negotiations started too late for the deal to go through.

We’ll talk about it again in June.

Roma strongest movers as Inter and Napoli adjust

Roma’s definitely the team that’s gotten the most stronger with the new players Donyell Malen, Saragozza, and Vaz.

Even so, Gian Piero Gasperini talked about the challenges that came up during this transfer window.

Inter is still without a winger: Diaby and Perisic didn’t make it in the end.

The same goes for Brooke Norton-Cuffy, although he could be back on the table this summer. Davide Frattesi also remained at Chivu’s court.

The meeting with the coach was the deciding factor in blocking his transfer to Nottingham Forest.

Even though the winter transfer window was pretty slow, Napoli still managed to make some moves while staying within the club’s budget.

They also gave Antonio Conte the creative and unpredictable solutions he’d been asking for in the press a lot lately.

Four players left the club, and Giovane arrived from Verona and Allison Santos from Sporting Lisbon.

Fiorentina quietly win the January Serie A window transfer

Fiorentina really came out on top during the transfer window.

Commisso’s team made five signings.

Here are five new players who will immediately fit into Vanoli’s tactical plans — or have already been used as starters: Daniele Rugani, Marco Brescianini, Giovanni Fabbian, Jack Harrison, and Manor Solomon.
