Atalanta Star Ademola Lookman Closing In On Fenerbahce Move

Ademola Lookman is on the brink of completing a move to Turkish Super Lig giants Fenerbahce, reports Sky Sport Italia. 

Lookman’s future has been the hot topic for debate since the summer when the Nigerian international tried to engineer a move away from Atalanta.

The forward was unsuccessful in his attempts and ultimately stayed in Bergamo. Now, La Dea ace is set to transfer to Turkey ahead of the winter deadline on February 2.

Ademola Lookman Nears Fenerbahce Transfer

Since Ademola Lookman’s transfer request in August, his relationship with Atalanta and the club’s supporters has been somewhat fractured.

Much has been made of his long-term future since then and now, a resolution is close to fruition. If Lookman does join Fenerbahce, he’ll form a rivalry with compatriot and Galatasaray star Victor Osimhen.

The pair had a tiff during AFCON when Lookman ‘denied‘ Osimhen a hat-trick in Nigeria’s clash against Mozambique earlier this month by not passing him the ball.

That has since been rectified but they could square off against each other in Turkey’s elite soccer division. La Dea and Sarı Kanaryalar officials are locked in talks over a €40million move.

It’s expected that add-ons will be included as part of the package. Raffaele Palladino’s side is trying to keep Lookman on board but it appears the player is keen on the move.

Will Atalanta Sign A Replacement?

As soon as Atalanta signed Giacomo Raspadori earlier this month, Ademola Lookman’s exit was always on the cards. Many already considered Raspadori as a replacement for the 2024 Europa League hero.

Therefore, it’s likely that La Dea won’t force through any new attackers before the window shuts on Monday. Especially if Kamaldeen Sulemana stays put.

The Ghanaian international is being tracked by Napoli and Roma so Raffaele Palladino definitely won’t lose two attackers this month.

Even more so as he has very limited time to source new personnel. With that in mind, expect Palladino to explore new options in the summer upon the conclusion of the current campaign.

Atalanta’s interest in Williot Swedberg is set to accelerate in the coming months. The Sweden star has excelled at Celta Vigo and hit a brace against Real Madrid in December.
