Bologna will host their first Europa League clash of the season as the Serie A side welcome Freiburg on October 2nd and you can find our full preview, prediction, possible lineups and betting tips below.

Bologna vs Freiburg Preview

Vincenzo Italiano’s side suffered a crushing last-minute below in their latest Serie A encounter, as Francesco Camarda’s 94th minute strike secured a point for Lecce – snatching victory away from Bologna’s hands.

Bologna now sit ninth in Serie A after picking-up seven points from five matches, failing to win consecutive matches and are yet to win find a victory away from home.

Fortunately for the Italian side, their upcoming Europa League clash will take place at their home ground and will compete at the same time as Roma, as the Giallorossi face Lille.

A saving grace for Italiano’s men is their performances at home, as Bologna have won both of their matches at Stadio Renato Dall’Ara – beating Como and Genoa.

Bologna giants play host to Freiburg on October 2nd and the Bundesliga side have turned things around in recent weeks after losing their opening two league matches – starting a run of four matches without defeat.

Julian Schuster’s side secured wins over Stuttgart and Werder Bremen, before edging past Basel in Gameweek One of the Europa League – but were held to a 1-1 draw in their latest outing.

Lukas Kubler scored Freiburg’s only goal against Hoffenheim, but the German is a doubt for the trip to Italy after coming off in the 38th minute with an injury.

Bologna have some injury concerns of their own, as Ciro Immobile and Ibrahim Sulemana are both ruled out, while Lorenzo De Silvestri misses out after failing to be selected for the clubs’ Europa League squad.

Bologna vs Freiburg Prediction

The visitors come into this match with greater momentum after picking up three wins from their last four matches and avoiding defeat in their latest league clash with a 1-1  draw to Hoffenheim.

Freiburg also secured three-points in their opening Europa League clash against Basel, something that Bologna failed to do on their trip to Villa Park.

The Serie A side have won just two matches across all competitions this season, however, both of these victories came at home and we expect the hosts to continue their 100% record at Stadio Renato Dall’Ara.

Prediction: Bologna 3-2 Freiburg
