Roma will be eyeing-up a second victory over French opposition in the Europa League this season, as the Giallorossi welcome Lille on October 2nd and you can find our full preview, prediction, possible lineups and betting tips below.

Roma vs Lille Preview

Many were surprised by Gian Piero Gasperini’s decision to swap Bergamo for Rome during the summer, as the veteran manager achieved huge success with Atalanta.

However, Gasperini’s decision has been justified after the opening weeks of the season, as the Giallorossi have kicked-off the 2025/26 campaign incredibly.

Winning four of their opening five league matches, including victories over Bologna, Pisa, Lazio and most recently, Hellas Verona, has seen Roma climb to third in Italy’s top division.

The Rome-based side will go into their upcoming fixture with huge momentum after a 2-0 win over Verona, while also winning their most recent Europa League clash with a 2-1 win away to Nice.

Matias Soule has been a standout for the Giallorossi, while stalwart players like Lorenzo Pellegrini have also turned their form around – with the Italian now considering a new contract in Rome.

Gasperini’s men will not be handed three-points on October 2nd however, as Lille have also made an impressive start to the season and secured a 2-1 victory over Brann in their last Europa League clash.

Bruno Genesio’s side were unbeaten from their first four Ligue 1 matches, kicking-off the season with a 3-3 thriller against Brest, before beating Monaco, Lorient and Toulouse.

However, this run came to an end after a 3-0 defeat to Lens and Lille suffered another defeat in their latest league outing, losing 1-0 to Lyon at home on September 28th.

Lille’s main strength comes in the attacking area of the field, scoring 13 goals in six league matches, which is more than last season’s Champions League winners – PSG (12).

Genesio comes into the match with a host of injury concerns, as Alexsandro, Thomas Meunier, Romain Perraud and Ousmane Toure will all miss out – while Tiago Santos is a doubt after a knock against Lyon.

As for Roma, Leon Bailey and Paulo Dybala remain the only confirmed absences, while Tommas Baldanzi will not feature after Roma decided to not include the Italian in their Europa League squad.

Roma vs Lille Prediction

Gian Piero Gasperini’s side have made an impressive start to the 2025/26 season, winning five of the opening six matches across all competitions and conceding just two goals.

Competing on all-fronts will be a major focus for Roma this season after winning the opening Europa League clash, sitting third in Serie A and recently finding out their Coppa Italia Ro16 opponents in Torino.

The Giallorossi have enjoyed some successful spells across Europe in recent seasons and boast a superb record at Stadio Olimpico in this competition – losing just two matches at home.

With this impressive home record, we expect the Serie A side to earn another victory in the Italian capital and edge out Lille by a slim margin.

Prediction: Roma 2-1 Lille

Roma vs Lille Possible Lineups

Roma: Svilar; Hermoso, Mancini, Ndicka; Rensch, Kone, El Aynaoui, Tsimikas; Soule, El Shaarawy; Ferguson

Lille: Bodart; Santos, Ngoy, Mbemba, Verdonk; Bentaleb, Bouaddi; Fernandez-Pardo, Haraldsson, Sahraoui; Giroud

Roma vs Lille Betting Tips

Evan Ndicka To Be Booked: +400

The Ivorian international has been a consistent figure under Gian Piero Gasperini, taking up the left-hand side of Roma’s back three for the majority of this season.

In Roma’s last Europa League outing, the 26-year-old played a vital role in securing all-three points for the Giallorossi by scoring the opening goal of the match against Nice.

During the match, Ndicka was also on the receiving end of a yellow card, something he also managed in the game prior against Lazio and the Ivorian has been cautioned twice in his last three appearances.
