Genoa Identify Brooke Norton-Cuffy Replacement If Star Full-Back Quits On Deadline Day
The Englishman is very much in-demand.
Brooke Norton-Cuffy could still quit Genoa on deadline day and Il Grifone has identified Nathan Patterson as a possible replacement.
Patterson is deemed surplus to requirements at Everton and Daniele De Rossi is keeping tabs on the Scotland international full-back.
De Rossi has earmarked the Toffees defender and is weighing up a loan bid. The 2006 FIFA World Cup winner will only make his move if Norton-Cuffy moves on, reports Fabrizio Romano.
🗞️🏴Genoa have explored a deal to sign Everton full-back Nathan Patterson on loan, only if Brooke Norton-Cuffy leaves the club before tonight’s deadline.

Brooke Norton Cuffy Transfer News Reveals Everton, Inter Milan And Juventus Interest
Everton’s interest in Brooke Norton-Cuffy heightened at the back end of last week with the English Premier League side keen on acquiring a new right-back.
Head coach David Moyes has tracked the Englishman over the last few months and is keen to strike a deal. However, Moyes faces competition from Serie A’s big boys.
Norton-Cuffy is attracting the attention of both Inter Milan and Juventus. Denzel Dumfries’ ankle injury and Luis Henrique’s struggles at the San Siro have left Inter pondering their options.
Even more so as Dumfries changed agent towards the end of 2025. Naturally, that sparked rumors the Dutchman was ready to quit the Nerazzurri.
As for Juve, they too are in the market for defensive reinforcements. Cagliari loanee Marco Palestra is on the Bianconeri’s shortlist whereas Cristian Chivu is also keeping an eye on his development.
Nonetheless, it’s Genoa’s prized asset that remains the No 1 target for all three sides. With the clock very much against the trio, they will need to make their move quickly.
Nathan Patterson Wanted By Genoa
Although Nathan Patteron has featured more predominantly in recent weeks, Everton will consider all suitable offers for the 24-year-old.
And if the Toffees can win the race for Brooke Norton-Cuffy, it could see Patterson head in the opposite direction to the Stadio Luigi Ferraris.
After Genoa’s 3-2 defeat to Lazio on January 30, defensive recruits are a necessity and the Scot ticks all the boxes required by head coach Daniele De Rossi.
As a former defensive midfielder, De Rossi knows all about protecting his goal. Il Grifone currently has the fifth-worst defensive record in Serie A and the Roma legend will want a vast improvement.
Especially if Brooke Norton-Cuffy does move on in the coming hours. Patterson has struggled somewhat on Merseyside but his recent resurgence – and slower pace of soccer in Italy – gives supporters indications he could blossom in Liguria.
In fact, it wouldn’t be a huge surprise to see a swap deal come to fruition between Everton and Genoa with both clubs keen on their respective right-backs.
