The striker has been sidelined after suffering an adductor strain during the 2-1 victory over Cagliari in November.

Vlahovic underwent surgery in early December to repair a tendon before beginning his rehabilitation in Belgrade, working with a personal trainer to build his fitness levels.

He is now back in Turin and will be closely monitored by Juventus’ medical team.

According to La Gazzetta dello Sport, he is targeting a March comeback, specifically in the first half of the month.

Luciano Spalletti did not sign a new striker in January, leaving him reliant on Kenan Yildiz, Jonathan David and Lois Openda while Vlahovic remains out.

A speedy recovery is crucial to the Old Lady’s Champions League qualification bid. Still, they are reluctant to rush the Serbian frontman back into action and risk another untimely injury setback.

For now, he is in positive spirits at Continassa, with the business end of the season firmly in his sights.

Juventus’ failure to recruit a new frontman will leave them reliant on Vlahovic after his return – but this could in fact lead to him signing a new contract in a surprise U-turn.

According to La Gazzetta dello Sport, Spalletti’s appointment has kept the possibility of a renewal alive.

While the club have not made a contract offer, Vlahovic is open to holding talks over extending his stay. Indeed, he has also expressed his willingness to the head coach, whose own future is just as uncertain.

Regardless, the 26-year-old is eager to return soon and dreams of winning at least one trophy with Juventus.

A host of Premier League sides are ready to pounce should he leave Turin. Vlahovic is now able to agree a pre-contract due to the Bosman Rule, having entered the final six months of his current deal.

Manchester United, Arsenal and Chelsea have all been heavily linked. Tottenham made contact over a possible move last summer, and could reignite their interest at the end of the season.

Vlahovic would need to take a significant pay cut to his €22m per year salary, which makes him the highest-paid player in Serie A.
