Roma Ready To Step Up Pursuit Of Hellas Verona Star Giovane

Giovane has emerged as the latest Roma target with the Giallorossi preparing a January bid for the Brazilian star. 

The 22-year-old has dazzled for Hellas Verona this season having moved to the Marcantonio Bentegodi in July. So far, Giovane has three goals and four assists in 15 Serie A appearances.

Having previously shined at Corinthians, the South American hotshot has firmly caught the attention of Gian Piero Gasperini.

It’s no secret the former Atalanta head coach wants to add attacking reinforcements and sees Giovane as the ideal fit at the Stadio Olimpico.

In November, it was reported that Hellas Verona forward Giovane was being pursued by a number of Serie A clubs. Interest is set to intensify but Roma are currently in pole position to win the race for the Brazilian’s signature.

The Serie A title-chasers are keen to add more goal-getters to their ranks. As it stands, the Giallorossi have scored just 17 times in Italy’s elite this season.

That is the same number of goals as basement-dwellers Fiorentina. Hence why boss Gian Piero Gasperini is set to launch a bid for Giovane in the coming days.

Gasperini will have to move quickly, though. Inter Milan’s interest in Giovane is also likely to step up next month as they aim to wrestle back the Scudetto from Napoli.

Giovane Style Of Play

Giovane is widely considered as one of Brazil’s finest up-and-coming talents. Although he is yet to represent the senior Selecao side, he is an outsider to make Carlo Ancelotti’s 2026 FIFA World Cup squad.

Much of that is owing to Giovane’s exciting style of play. The 22-year-old is a modern, left-footed forward who can play in a number of attacking positions.

His versatility is something of which Gian Piero Gasperini is seeking. More notably, Giovane is renowned for his pace, keen eye for goal, close ball control and explosive acceleration.

Attributes of which Gasperini craves in his high-pressing style of soccer. Furthermore, the South American whiz is very much in the wily old boss’ price range, too. Hellas Verona will likely accept bids in the region of €20million.

Roma’s January Transfer Targets

With Evan Ferguson’s Roma exit rumors gathering traction, a number of other forwards and wingers have been linked with a move to the Italian capital.

Ferguson’s struggles – plus the Romans inability to score regularly – has seen Manchester United’s Joshua Zirkzee earmarked for a mid-season switch.

Transfer guru Fabrizio Romano insists a loan deal is likely with an obligation to buy at the end of the season. Zirkzee formerly starred at Bologna and it’s believed he will seamlessly transition back into Serie A with considerable ease.

Elsewhere, Giacomo Raspadori is a Giallorossi target. The Italy and Atletico Madrid forward is reportedly happy to move to the Stadio Olimpico in January.
