Juventus Cool Interest In Guido Rodriguez As Bianconeri Consider Alternatives
The former Real Betis star has made just five league appearances this term.
Guido Rodriguez remains a target for Juventus this window but the Bianconeri are temporarily cooling their interest in the Argentine.
The 2022 FIFA World Cup winner is likely to leave West Ham owing to his lack of minutes for the English Premier League strugglers.
Juve is on the prowl for midfield reinforcements and has identified the 31-year-old as a suitable option. However, head coach Luciano Spalletti is analyzing a number of players who could improve his roster.
Guido Rodriguez On Juventus’ Radar
New Juventus sporting director Marco Ottolini is working closely with Spalletti and both are keen to bring Rodriguez to Turin. A move of which the South American is reportedly keen to make.
Nonetheless, Ottolini doesn’t want to rush as he desires personnel who have the correct profile to help restore the glory days to the Allianz Stadium.
Midfield is considered as Juve’s weakest department so acquiring the right stars is imperative. Even more so as Fabio Miretti is typically the only option from the bench.
Newcastle star Sandro Tonali is an option as well but he is viewed more as a better option in the summer. As it stands, Manuel Locatelli and Khephren Thuram are the main pairings in the middle of the park.
Teun Koopmeiners and Weston McKennie are often played all over the pitch so Rodriguez is very much on the Bianconeri’s shortlist.
The Argentine’s contract expires in the summer so a cut-price deal is viable. All that remains is for Ottolini and Spalletti to determine whether now is the right time to strike.
Juventus’ Midfield Transfer Targets
With Ottolini and Spalletti happy to bide their time over Rodriguez, they want to fully assess all available options over the coming weeks. And there are a number of players to mule over.
Juventus’ interest in Adrian Bernabe is set to gather traction this month. The Parma ace has impressed this term and could be viewed as a stronger long-term option than Rodriguez.
Denmark international Pierre-Emile Hojbjerg is another player on Juve’s radar. The Marseille man has starred for the French giants this term but doubts still remain over his future at the Velodrome.
Elsewhere, Ruben Neves, Quinten Timber, Morten Hjulmand and Davide Frattesi are also options. The latter looks likely to quit Inter Milan but Galatasaray and Fenerbahce are also keen.
For now though, Rodriguez would perhaps be the easiest and most cost-effective player to lure to Turin. Although Ottolini and Spalletti won’t be forced into a quick decision, they need a solution and the Argentine is an ideal candidate.
