Inter Hit With Further Punishment For Cremonese Firework Incident

Inter have been fined €50,000 after a firework exploded next to Cremonese goalkeeper Emil Audero during their recent Serie A match.
Italy’s sporting judge also issued Inter with a specific warning, saying they could face harsher punishment if it happens again.
The Nerazzurri’s 2-0 Serie A win over Cremonese was marred by unsavoury scenes five minutes into the second half.
A firework was thrown from the away end, which went off next to Audero. He was hit by the sparks and had to undergo medical checks.
Inter fined: The sporting judge’s reasons
The sporting judge treated the incident as a serious safety breach, even though the match restarted and finished normally.
Inter were fined €50,000 after the case was reviewed. The club also received a specific warning, meaning further incidents could bring tougher sanctions.
“A fine of €50,000.00 and a specific warning to Inter Milan for having its supporters throw various pyrotechnic materials (firecrackers and smoke bombs) onto the pitch during the match,” the judge’s statement read.
“Specifically, in the third minute of the second half, a firecracker thrown near an opposing player caused him to be temporarily stunned and the match to be suspended for approximately three minutes.”

The judge added that Inter’s response helped reduce the punishment, citing the club’s cooperation in quickly identifying those responsible and its clear public dissociation from the incident.
That dissociation, the statement said, was also shown by Inter’s players during and after the match.
Inter president Giuseppe Marotta condemned what happened, calling it foolish and unsporting, and praised Emil Audero for carrying on.
Sky Sport Italia also reported that the 19-year-old accused of throwing the firework was arrested.
Inter fans: Have they been punished?
Inter have been fined and warned, but no action has been taken against the Curva Nord.
Therefore, San Siro is likely to be sold out for the next home match against Juventus, scheduled for Saturday, February 14.
However, the Italian Interior Ministry has issued a travelling ban for Inter fans over the next three long-distance away games.
This means Nerazzurri fans can attend the Milan derby against AC Milan.
However, Inter supporters cannot attend the league games away at Sassuolo, Lecce and Fiorentina.
