Inter Milan are reportedly considering a January move for Emiliano Martinez, but multiple Serie A sides have joined the race for the Argentine.
Inter Milan To Make January Bid For Emiliano Martinez
Cristian Chivu is ready to make some key changes in the upcoming winter transfer window and the Inter Milan boss is reportedly looking to replace Swiss shot-stopper, Yann Sommer.
The Nerazzurri currently sit top of the table with 24-points from 11 matches, but Inter have conceded 12 goals along the way and Sommer has kept four clean sheets.
Replacing, or at least finding competition for, Yann Sommer will be a difficult task in the January transfer window, but Chivu appears to have found his man.
Emiliano Martinez appeared to be on his way out of Aston Villa during the recent summer transfer window, with the Argentinian attracting interest from Manchester United and Galatasaray.
The 33-year-old has made nine starts in the Premier League this season, while also playing every minute in the Europa League and appears to have reestablished his place under Unai Emery.
Despite this consistent playing-time, the Villains are reportedly willing to offload Martinez in the January window – but only if the English side can find a suitable replacement.
Although Inter are keen on signing the Argentine in January, Cristian Chivu will be fully-focused on the upcoming Serie A clash as his side face AC Milan in the Derby della Madonnina.
The Nerazzurri have some injury concerns, the most notable being Denzel Dumfries, however Inter Milan’s record without the Dutchman should not worry supporters – losing just four of the 15 matches the defender has missed.
Chivu’s focus will be directed towards the Milan derby on November 23rd, but the Inter Milan boss may need to step up his interest as the Nerazzurri face stiff competition from other Serie A sides.
AC Milan Prepare For Mike Maignan Exit
AC Milan have enjoyed a strong start to the 2025/26 season, accumulating 22-points from 11 matches and sitting third in the table – boasting wins over Napoli and Roma.
However, the Rossoneri are still dealing with a host of contract injuries, with the likes of Christian Pulisic and Mike Maignan both struggling to agree new terms in Milan.
The USMNT is yet to agree a new deal in Milan, as Pulisic’s salary requests remain an issue during negotiations and the Rossoneri are reluctant to increase his income in 2026.
Maignan’s contract has taken priority as the Frenchman’s deal with the Rossoneri is set to expire in June 2026 and he will be able to enter pre-contract negotiations with another side in January.
During the summer transfer window, Maignan was on the verge of joining Chelsea after agreeing personal terms with the Premier League side – however the two clubs could not agree on a fee.
His time in Milan is likely to end next year, meaning Massimiliano Allegri will be on the hunt for a new goalkeeper in 2026 and Martinez could be a shrewd option for the Rossoneri.
Martinez is one of the highest paid players at Aston Villa, earning a reported €170,000 which would put the Argentine on par with the likes of Adrien Rabiot and Christopher Nkunku in Milan.
Parma Search For Zion Suzuki Replacement
Emiliano Martinez will be looking to join a side with European soccer, but Parma are one of the few Serie A sides that are desperate for a goalkeeper following Zion Suzuki’s recent injury.
The Japanese shot-stopper was forced during Parma’s 2-2 draw with AC Milan on November 8th and the Parma keeper received surgery around his scaphoid and third finger of the left hand.
Carlos Cuenta’s side have relied on Suzuki hugely this season and will be unable to call upon the youngster for the majority of the 2025/26 campaign.
This means that Parma will be searching for a suitable replacement in the January transfer window and the Serie A side could consider an ambitious move for the Argentine.
Signing Martinez would be a monumental deal for Parma as the club have only spent over €20m on a singular player six times throughout their history.
