More outbound transfer news could be forthcoming at Lazio amid reports linking Alessio Romagnoli and Matteo Cancellieri with moves away.
Lazio have already sanctioned major changes in January, with Taty Castellanos joining West Ham and Matteo Guendouzi moving to Fenerbahce.
To make things worse for the Biancocelesti, Guendouzi won the Super Cup in his first appearance for Fenerbahce, scoring against Galatasaray.
Now, attention has turned to the future of two more Biancocelesti first-team players amid interest from England and the Middle East.
Brentford interest grows in Lazio winger Cancellieri
Cancellieri is attracting Premier League attention, with high-flying Brentford reported to be preparing an official offer.
According to Sportitalia, the Bees will be submitting a bid to Lazio on Monday afternoon for around €15-18m.
There have been reports claiming Brentford sent a scout to watch Cancellieri recently, underlining how serious their interest has become.
Cancellieri is said to be open to the move, with talks expected to develop quickly if a bid lands in Formello.
The 23-year-old, who came through Roma’s youth ranks, signed permanently for Lazio 2023 after a year-long loan from Verona for a total fee of €8.5m.
Lazio fans criticised his performance against Verona as he fruitlessly tried to go for goal instead of putting a teammate through in a good position.
Romagnoli tempted as Mancini calls from Al Sadd
Romagnoli’s situation is different, but just as significant, because he is one of Lazio’s senior defenders and a local favourite.
The central defender’s contract renewal remains unresolved at Lazio, and rumours of a departure are becoming louder.
Roberto Mancini, now in charge at Qatar’s Al Sadd, is pushing for the move and has already made contact, according to Calciomercato.
A concrete offer to Lazio hasn’t arrived yet. However, Romagnoli is said to have a contract significantly higher than the €3m a year he currently earns.
For the Biancocelesti, it would mean losing a valuable asset. However, it would also mean a transfer fee and a hefty salary off their wage bill.
Castellanos’ exit to West Ham is already forcing adjustments, and more departures would increase the pressure on recruitment.
If offers arrive for both Romagnoli and Cancellieri, Lazio’s next few days could shape the rest of their season.
