The Serie A news from matchday 11 has produced plenty of talking points with the main topic of discussion being Antonio Conte’s future.

Napoli slipped to a 2-0 defeat in Bologna which means Gli Azzurri lost top spot. The leaders going into November’s international break is Inter Milan.

They are closely pursued by Roma who are level on points with the Nerazzurri but have a slightly worse goal difference. Elsewhere, Pisa finally got off the mark, Genoa and Fiorentina shared the spoils and Atalanta close in on Raffaele Palladino.

Serie A News – Five Things Learned From Matchday 11

💥 Antonio Conte Is Potentially On The Brink At Napoli

After a stupendous title win in 2024-25, things haven’t gone so swimmingly for the champions this term. The next Napoli manager is being considered after Antonio Conte blasted his side’s lame 2-0 defeat to Bologna.

That in itself is typical of Conte and how his Serie A transfers this summer have seemingly let him down. In fact, Conte is due to speak to the club’s hierarchy this week to thrash out his future.

There’s no telling at this stage how that will go but it could be explosive. And if that were to happen, the champions will probably be looking for a new head coach to take charge against Atalanta on November 22.

🏆 Bologna Can Be Considered Outsiders For The Scudetto

Having lost stars such as Dan Ndoye and Sam Beukema in the summer, it was hard to envisage Bologna having such a great first quarter of the campaign.

Nonetheless, that is exactly what has happened and Vincenzo Italiano’s side are very much jostling with Italy’s elite at the Serie A summit.

Their fine 2-0 victory over Napoli demonstrates that the Rossoblu are no pretenders. Italiano already has the taste for glory having won last season’s Coppa Italia and he is clearly hungry for more.

👔 Paolo Vanoli Has Plenty Of Work To Do At Fiorentina

Another matchweek, another winless outcome for Fiorentina. New head coach Paolo Vanoli was in the dugout for the crucial clash with fellow strugglers Genoa.

There were a number of positives from the 2-2 stalemate but there are also a lot of issues that need rectifying. The first is the leaky defense that has kept just two clean sheets in Serie A all season.

Too many times this campaign has La Viola been exposed at the back. In attack, this was just the second time this season they had registered two goals in a single league game.

🇮🇹 Serie A News – Inter Milan Are Looking Primed For The Title

The Inter Milan stats from 2025-26 strongly indicate that the Serie A title could be heading back to the San Siro. The Nerazzurri’s fine 2-0 win over Lazio saw them return to the top of the table.

Although it is incredibly tight in terms of points at the higher echelons of Italy’s elite, Inter really appears to be getting into their stride and when that happens, they’ll be difficult to thwart.

After the international break, Cristian Chivu will oversee his first Milan derby as head coach. If he can guide his side to victory against their fierce rivals and fellow title-chasers, it’ll fire out a firm warning shot to the rest of the league.

🪨 Roma Are Rock Solid At The Back

Since taking charge in the summer, the Gian Piero Gasperini Roma stats have proven what a wily old head coach he can be. The 67-year-old has made the Giallorossi absolutely rock solid in defense.

Alongside Arsenal, no team has shipped fewer goals and registered more clean sheets than the Romans across Europe’s top five leagues (5 conceded, 7 clean sheets).

Gasperini oversaw another win and another shutout against Udinese in the capital this weekend. Lorenzo Pellegrini and Zeki Celik scored in the 2-0 whereby the ‘Gasp’ was awarded October’s Serie A Coach of the Month award by none other than Claudio Ranieri.
