Pisa are entering negotiations with former Premier League manager Ivan Juric after parting ways with Alberto Gilardino.
Alberto Gilardino Sacked After Horror Display
Alberto Gilardino was relieved of his duties as Pisa manager on February 1st, as the Italian side sit 19th in Serie A with just one win all season.
The 43-year-old was brought in during the summer after Pisa earned promotion from Serie B and was expected to take the club to the next level.
Pisa are backed by a billionaire owner in Alexander Knaster, but have failed to turn this support into results on the pitch and are now four-points off safety.
Suffering a 2-1 defeat by Sassuolo on January 31st was the deciding factor in Gilardino’s dismissal and made it 12 consecutive league matches without a win.
Even bottom place Hellas Verona, who also sacked their manager after a defeat in MD23 in Serie A, have picked-up a league victory more recently.
Pisa are now on the hunt for a new manager to take charge until the 2025/26 season comes to an end and Marco Giampaolo is reportedly closing in on the interim role.
The Italian has been away from the sport since parting ways with Lecce in June 2025 and is hoping to regain his reputation after picking-up six wins from 26 matches with the Salentini.
However, Giampaolo may only be considered on a temporary basis, as Lecce are reportedly in talks with Ivan Juric over a permanent offer.

Ivan Juric began the 2025/26 season full of hope after taking the reins as Atalanta manager, but the Croatian was relieved of his duties after just 15 matches.
La Dea were unimpressed by Juric’s approach in Serie A and the Champions League, meaning the former Southampton manager was dismissed after five months.
Raffaele Palladino was appointed just a few days later and Atalanta are now nine-points away from Champions League qualification – while also reaching the competition’s Ro16 playoff stage.
The three remaining Serie A sides found out who they would be facing in the Ro16 playoffs on January 30th and Atalanta will take on Borussia Dortmund.
Juric will have many regrets over his tenure in Bergamo and could have a chance to right these wrongs with Pisa, but the Croatian has reportedly set his conditions.
Pisa must avoid relegation from Serie A this season to entice Juric into the club during the summer and the former Atalanta boss is also demanding heavy financial support.
