Although January is still ten weeks away, the latest Serie A transfer rumors are rife with talks of players potentially joining new clubs.

The winter window provides the perfect mid-season opportunity for teams in Italy’s elite to ditch their flops. It also carves out the opportunity to replenish ahead of the new year.

Here at FootItalia, we have looked at the the most prominent Serie A transfer rumors and ranked them out of ten in regards to the chance of them actually coming to fruition.

Ranking The Latest Serie A Transfer Rumors

Kobbie Mainoo To Juventus (8/10)

Even though Juventus were one of the highest spenders as the Serie A transfers flowed in the summer, questions have still arisen about Igor Tudor’s squad.

The Croatian bought in a number of new faces as he embarked on his first full season at the Allianz Stadium. However, a bad run of results has highlighted the need to reinforce the middle of the pitch.

Kobbie Mainoo – who was linked with Napoli in the summer – is considered as a viable choice for the Bianconeri. Especially as he came close to joining in the summer and his position at Manchester United is seemingly surplus.

Therefore, a loan move in January with either an option or obligation to buy looks almost a given. Having seen former teammates Scott McTominay and Rasmus Hojlund flourish, a switch to Italy would be highly tempting.

Dusan Vlahovic To Tottenham (7/10)

With the Dusan Vlahovic price tag set at approximately €15million, a whole cluster of teams have been linked with the Juventus star this January.

In fact, it was somewhat a surprise that the Serbian international didn’t leave the Allianz Stadium in the summer. His huge salary was the main stumbling block but that doesn’t appear to deter Tottenham.

The Europa League winners are reportedly Vlahovic’s preferred destination. Vlahovic’s contract expires in 2026 so even though a cut-price deal can be completed in January, it’s likely that a summer move to north London is more viable.

Vlahovic will be able to transfer for free. Barcelona have been strongly linked in recent weeks. The Spaniards believe Vlahovic could replace Robert Lewandowski but Spurs are his preferred destination.

Joshua Zirkzee To Roma (7/10)

A Joshua Zirkzee Bologna transfer has gathered pace in the last two weeks as the Dutchman desperately seeks a January exit from Manchester United.

Moving back to his old club does carry some weight. However, Roma is set to throw their name into the mix. Gian Piero Gasperini could send loanee Evan Ferguson back to Brighton to make room for Zirkzee.

Even though that may seem drastic, Ferguson has failed to deliver so far at the Stadio Olimpico. Having made a bright start in the capital, Gasperini knows adding more firepower is pivotal for the second half of the campaign.

Zirkzee’s last season in Serie A was the most fruitful of his career. Having failed to nail down a regular starting berth at Old Trafford, a loan or permanent switch is extremely likely. It just depends on who Zirkzee wants to sign for with interest rife across Europe.

Yann Bisseck To The English Premier League (8/10)

The latest Yann Bisseck transfer news points to a move to the English Premier League in January. The likes of Bournemouth and Crystal Palace are both reportedly keen.

In fact, both were chasing the Inter Milan defender in the summer but his lofty price tag put off potential suitors. Even Bundesliga side Eintracht Frankfurt are weighing up a mid-season bid.

Bisseck will likely cost around €35m which may prove too high for the Germans. Although Bisseck has fallen down the pecking order at Inter – hence why he wants a new venture – he provides plenty of potential for the Cherries and Eagles.

Furthermore, Bisseck wants as many minutes under his belt as possible to stand a chance of making Germany’s 2026 FIFA World Cup squad.

Mateo Kovacic To AC Milan (6/10)

According to Milan Live, a move to AC has been mooted but it’s more difficult to envisage this transfer happening just yet. Purely because Manchester City has a number of injuries to navigate.

That would deter the English giants from parting way with the midfield ace in January. However, a summer switch is much more viable so it’s certainly one to keep an eye on.

From the Rossoneri’s perspective, Kovacic – who used to represent Inter – would make an ideal replacement for Luka Modric. Should his compatriot and 2018 Ballon d’Or winner decide to hang up his boots at the end of the season.

Furthermore, Kovacic also played with Modric during their time at Real Madrid. The 40-year-old legend would likely prove instrumental in convincing the City star to head to the San Siro.

Not only that, USMNT captain Christian Pulisic also knows Kovacic very well from their time at Chelsea. This potential move is likely but it perhaps won’t happen anytime soon owing to the Cityzens needs to keep Kovacic at the Etihad for the time being.
