Luciano Spalletti Agrees Deal To Become The New Juventus Head Coach

Luciano Spalletti is set to become the new Juventus manager with a verbal agreement in place until the end of the season. 

Spalletti is set to sign on the dotted line until June 2026. If the former Napoli and Azzurri boss can secure a top four finish in Serie A, there is an option to extend the deal.

The 66-year-old has been out of work since the summer when he was sacked by the senior national side after a crushing 3-0 World Cup qualifying defeat to Norway.

Interim head coach Massimo Brambilla will take charge of the Bianconeri for the matchday 9 clash against Udinese at the Allianz Stadium. Spalletti is likely to be in attendance as Juve seeks their first win in nine outings.

Raffaele Palladino Was The Front-Runner To Replace Igor Tudor

Despite overseeing just 126 games in management, Raffaele Palladino was favored to make an emotional return to Juventus after Igor Tudor was sacked. The former winger spent four years in Turin as a Bianconeri player.

Although two of those years were spent on loan at Salernitana and Livorno, Palladino was part of the Juve roster who won the Serie B title in 2006-07 after the Calciopoli scandal.

He was viewed as a low cost gamble and economically viable choice owing to the Old Lady’s precarious financial situation whereby previous head coaches are still being paid off.

The Serie A transfers this summer also saw Italy’s most successful side spend handsomely. A quick solution was seeked by Juve with a number of crunch fixtures on the horizon.

Will Luciano Spalletti Be Named As The New Juventus Manager?

According to various reports, Luciano Spalletti will be named as the new Juventus manager. A verbal agreement is in place whereby lawyers are checking over the finer contract details.

The Bianconeri reached out to Spalletti less than 24 hours after Igor Tudor’s dismissal. Spalletti was most recently with the national side but offers an abundance of experience in Serie A.

His most notable achievements came at Napoli and Roma. Spalletti led Gli Azzurri to the Scudetto on 2022-23 and won two Coppa Italia titles for the Giallorossi. 

Priced at +300, Spalletti offered bettors strong value with the likes of sports journalists Fabrizio Romano and Gianluca Di Marzio both confirming he is bound for Turin.

Roberto Mancini Was Considered For Juventus Role

Even though Roberto Mancini is favored in the next Italy manager odds market, the reputable head coach was strongly linked with Juventus.

He hasn’t managed at club level since 2018 but does offer a wealth of experience. It was doubtful whether Mancini would want to be appointed mid-season but his availability and reputation made him a strong contender.

Furthermore, Mancini has won league titles in England and Italy as well as the 2020 European Championship with the senior Azzurri side. He is a manager Juve knows very well.

Mancini has often been linked with the Bianconeri but decided never to accept the challenge. Now, it appears that tradition will continue with Luciano Spalletti set to take over.
