Amir Richardson is closing in on an initial loan deal from Fiorentina to Danish Superliga champions FC Copenhagen.

Richardson has made just four appearances across all competitions for La Viola this season. The Moroccan midfielder has been keen to move on to secure more game time.

The Danes have seemingly come to the rescue who will acquire Richardson on temporary terms until the end of the 2025-26 campaign.

Jacob Neestrup’s side has the option to sign the 23-year-old permanently for €9million. They will cover his salary for the duration of the loan.

Fiorentina And FC Copenhagen Agree Amir Richardson Loan

Although Nice targeted Fiorentina’s Amir Richardson earlier this month, the Ligue 1 side appears to have lost out on his signature to FC Copenhagen.

Having been born in the French city, Richardson looked destined for an emotional return. However, the Moroccan international will now ply his trade in Scandinavia.

The move has raised a few eyebrows owing to Richardson’s choice of destination. Nonetheless, Copenhagen has assured the former Reims ace that he will play a pivotal role in the coming months.

It’s expected the Danes will officially announce the transfer by the end of the week. Richardson could make his debut against Midtjylland on February 8.

Amir Richardson Career Stats

Amir Richardson’s career stats may not be littered with goals and assists but his dominating presence and technical ability ultimately highlights why FC Copenhagen wanted to sign him this winter.

Richardson has made a total of 140 appearances across all competitions in his time with Le Harve, Reims and Fiorentina. He has scored eight career goals and provided seven assists to date.

On the international scene, Richardson represents Morocco. He wasn’t included in their 2025 AFCON roster but he will be hoping his move to Copenhagen can enhance his 2026 World Cup hopes.

As it stands, Richardson has nine caps for the north Africans and his last appearance came in the 1-0 AFCON qualifying win over Lesotho in 2024.

Will Fiorentina Sign A Replacement?

Fiorentina have signed Marco Brescianini already this January. The central midfielder is considered an upgrade on Amir Richardson who has struggled this term.

A Giovanni Fabbian and Simon Sohm swap deal is also close to completion which would give La Viola another strong option in the middle of the pitch.

Sohm – similar to Richardson – hasn’t hit the heights that were expected. It’s possible further recruits will arrive as Raffaele Palladino and new sporting director Fabio Paratici seek fresh personnel to help beat the drop.

In attack, the likes of Jack Harrison and Manor Solomon have already signed on the dotted line.
