Inter Milan President Provides Huge Update Over New ‘Real Madrid-esque’ Stadium

Inter Milan will be emulating Real Madrid according to the club president Beppe Marotta, as the Italian provided an update over new stadium plans.
Inter Milan President Links Real Madrid To Stadium Plans
After completing the purchase of San Siro in November 2025 for €197million, Inter and AC Milan are turning their attention to a new home ground.
Fans have been divided over a new home ground due to the historic moments in San Siro, but Inter Milan supporters caused an unsavory memory in their latest Serie A clash against Cremonese.
A firework was thrown in the direction of the Cremonese goalkeeper and Inter supporters have now been banned from the next three away matches – but will be able to attend the Milan derby on March 8th.
Marotta revealed that the club will be taking legal action against anyone involved, but the Inter Milan president was quick to turn the attention to the Nerazzurri’s new stadium project.
The Inter president said: “It’s not easy to act in Italy, where bureaucracy is very obstructive in terms of the process that a company or an individual has to go through.
“We have embarked on this new era with optimism, and we will have a new home. Buying San Siro was very difficult. But thanks to the determination of Ralph and Scaroni, we managed to complete the deed.”
Supporters have shown concerns over the new stadium’s design, as there are fears over the ground looking ‘too modern’.
Marotta was unable to confirm an exact design, but did confirm that Inter will be following in Real Madrid’s footsteps when forming a new pitch.
“From a design perspective, I don’t want to go into detail because we are still in the phase of discussion; a proper presentation will come soon.
“The project has been entrusted to Foster and Manica, two icons of sports architecture, who will interpret the guidelines of the two owners.
“I can only say that the pitch will not be movable like Real Madrid’s. However, modern technology allows it to be changed in a single day with ease.”
Will San Siro Be Demolished?
The two Italian sides are set to begin construction of a new 71,5000-seat stadium in mid-late 2027 and the ground will be next to Stadio Giuseppe Meazza (San Siro).
Inter and AC Milan have shared the iconic soccer stadium since 1947, but the ground was owned by the Municipality of Milan until the end of last year.
This new home stadium is set to cost an estimated €1.3bn and will be split between both sides, as they look to compete with Europe’s elite sides.
These ambitions were not replicated during the January transfer window, as Inter were quiet throughout and AC Milan’s Jean-Philippe Mateta pursuit failed.
However, supporters have put that deal behind them and are now looking into the future of San Siro, as 90% of the iconic soccer stadium is set to be demolished once the new ground is built in 2031/32.
The soccer stadium will hold the Winter Olympics opening ceremony on February 6th, but will not be selected to host during the 2032 European championships.
