Leon Bailey Suffers Muscle Injury During First Roma Training Session

The latest Leon Bailey injury update has revealed the Roma winger has suffered an injury set back in his first training session with the club.

Bailey only moved to the Giallorossi on August 20 from Aston Villa. The Jamaican international has signed a loan deal until the end of the 2025-26 season.

Head coach Gian Piero Gasperini also has the option to buy the 28-year-old for a reported fee in the region of €22million.

Leon Bailey Injury Update

After Leon Bailey declared ‘forza Roma’ to eager supporters when he jetted in to Italy on Tuesday, the Jamaican has been the victim of an awful slice of luck.

In what was his maiden training session with the club, Bailey picked up a muscular injury. It is not fully known at this stage the fully severity of the problem.

The Giallorossi released a statement on Thursday which read: “Leon Bailey sustained a suspected myotendinous injury of the right rectus femoris at the end of a training session on Wednesday, August 20.

“The player will undergo further diagnostic tests to determine the exact extent of the injury in the coming hours. Bailey has already begun rehabilitation treatment at the Fulvio Bernardini training centre.”

How Many Games Will Leon Bailey Miss?

Until the results of Leon Bailey’s diagnostic tests are revealed, supporters can only guesstimate how long the Jamaican winger will be out for.

It’s fair to assume that Bailey will miss the Serie A season opener against Bologna on August 23. And he’ll probably miss the away trip to newly-promoted Pisa seven days later.

Roma is next in action during the middle of September against Torino after the international break. That is perhaps the likeliest fixture Bailey could feature in.

However, nothing is certain until Bailey’s muscle injury is fully diagnosed and properly determined. One thing that is a certainty is that Giallorossi supporters can not wait to see their latest signing in action.

Roma Transfer Targets

Whether the injury to Leon Bailey occurred or not, Roma is still actively seeking further new recruits to the Stadio Olimpico.

After being snubbed by Jadon Sancho, Marseille winger Jonathan Rowe has emerged as an alternate target. However, Gian Piero Gasperini’s side haven’t fully given up on signing Sancho.

The England international wasn’t prepared to lower his wage demands. Nonetheless, the Giallorossi are still trying to thrash out a deal.

Elsewehere, Tottenham duo Bryan Gil and Manor Soloman have been touted as potential newbies. So has Wolves forward Fabio Silva and Switzerland international Breel Embolo.
