Napoli Enter The Race For Exciting Norwegian Winger Who Excelled In Azzurri World Cup Qualifier Thrashing

Napoli are the latest side to show an interest in Manchester City and Norway international winger Oscar Bobb.  

Sources told FootItalia that the Serie A giants are strongly considering a January bid for the 22-year-old star. Head coach Antonio Conte needs reinforcements after a number of injuries disrupted his midfield and attack.

Bobb has been identified as a key target owing to the long-term setbacks suffered by the likes of Kevin De Bruyne, Frank Anguissa and Billy Gilmour.

With a new Antonio Conte Napoli contract reportedly on the table, the 2024-25 Scudetto-winning boss wants to further reward himself by luring Oscar Bobb to Naples.

However, the maverick Italian has a battle on his hands to win Bobb’s signature. The Manchester City right-winger is being pursued by a number of sides across Europe.

English Premier League clubs Crystal Palace and Fulham are keen to sign the Norway international. The same applies to Germany’s Borussia Dortmund and Sevilla of LaLiga.

As it stands, it looks increasingly likely Oscar Bobb will leave Manchester City. The global giants are pursuing a deal for Bournemouth’s star winger Antoine Semenyo.

If that were to come to fruition, it would seriously hamper Bobb’s first-team opportunities of making a mark in the second-half of the campaign.

Therefore, the Cityzens are happy to negotiate a loan deal for the Norway international. Head coach Pep Guardiola views Bobb as an exciting talent for the future so a potential move to Napoli could help him reach his full potential.

Oscar Bobb Career Stats

Having been considered as one of Manchester City’s brightest prospects when he joined in 2019, Oscar Bobb hasn’t quite hit the heights expected of him.

Much of that is owing to the broken leg he suffered in August last year. Inevitably, the injury ruled him out for most of the 2024-25 campaign – restricting him to just three league appearances.

During his time at the Etihad, Bobb has scored three goals and provided four assists in 47 outings across all competitions. For Norway, Bobb has 16 caps and scored twice.

The 22-year-old featured in both World Cup qualifiers against Italy and chipped in with an assist in the 4-1 trouncing over Gennaro Gattuso’s men in November.

Napoli’s January Transfer Targets

Not only is Oscar Bobb on Napoli’s shortlist, Real Madrid wonderkid Franco Mastantuono is also being tracked by the champions. Alongside a number of Serie A sides, too.

Mastantuono is keen to seek a loan move away from the Bernabeu to acquire more game-time ahead of the 2026 FIFA World Cup. Similar to Bobb.

Elsewhere, Kobbie Mainoo has been strongly linked with the I Partenopei. The Manchester United midfielder has also struggled for minutes this season and a reunion with Rasmus Hojlund and Scott McTominay appears inviting.

Staying in England’s elite, Tottenham defender Radu Dragusin is also a consideration. So to is former Sunderland target Armand Lauriente. The Frenchman is reportedly keen to quit Sassuolo.
